Tributes for Mia Rose Harrison and messages of support for her family have filled social media posts in the wake of the four-year-old’s drowning on the weekend.
Facebook pages, including the Central Western Daily’s, have been inundated with comments and posts remembering a “sweet, beautiful angel” since Saturday’s tragedy at Orange Aquatic Centre.
Alisha Joy Richardson posted a touching tribute to Mia, writing “you were and always will be remembered as our princess”.
“I know my daughter loved you more than anything as well. You’re never gone from our hearts, nor from our souls. You are always with us my darling girl,” the post said.
Mia was in her final weeks at Goodstart Early Learning Orange’s Molong Road centre, where, according to a post from Dave Haggar, a director at the childcare facility, her loss is already being felt.
“All of the educators, staff and most importantly her friends here at Goodstart will deeply miss little Mia, and our condolences go out to her family and friends,” Mr Haggar wrote on the Central Western Daily’s page.
“My grandson went to daycare with Mia and he is so very upset, like all the little ones there,” Joanne Fletcherallen added.
Many comments were underscored by a sense of disbelief, with the circumstances of Mia’s death especially hard to come to terms with.
“I cannot even begin to imagine how you are feeling,” Dale Lee wrote to Mia’s family. “To think that a day of fun at the local pool like so many of us have done before ended with you not bringing home your baby girl.”
“This poor family didn’t go to the pool to lose their precious daughter,” Amanda Golland wrote. “They went there to be an active family and give this girl a happy fun day.”
Lots of the comments were directed at Mia’s family, especially her mother, Mekaela Harrison.
“May you find moments of peace and happiness amidst your despair. Take it one sad day at a time until the sun shines through,” wrote Danielle Kind.
