Organiser Paul Cox was impressed by the turnout from Orange police, the Youth Advisory Council, Orange City Council, Designing Futures, Roundabout Central West and members of the public to remove paint and repaint damaged items.
“It’s getting bigger and bigger every year,” he said.
“Some people see graffiti as art, but to my way of thinking, graffiti on something that’s owned by the public isn’t art, it’s vandalism.”
The shade structure at Glenroi Oval was repainted green with blackboards in preparation for future graffiti art projects – Designing Futures is planning fortnightly workshops.
Canobolas Local Area Command Sergeant Yonneka Hill also took up a paintbrush.
“It’s a good way to show that we’re part of the community as well and we care about how the town looks,” she said.
