Orange councillors were asked to decide which projects they supported, but councillor Jeff Whitton moved not to exclude any.
The projects include CBD awning lights, footpaths, lights at Wade Park, the domestic violence shelter, Sir Jack Brabham Park amenities, upgrades to Rotary and Somerset parks, the Robertson Park toilets, hockey field resurfacing, and a children’s play area at Orange Presbyterian Church.
Councillor Jason Hamling said it was a shame to pit them against one another.
“They all are very worthy projects, so it would be good if we could do the whole lot,” he said.
Samantha Rath, who lives with Williams Syndrome, asked for councillors’ support for disabled toilets at Sir Jack Brabham Park.
She is part of a 30-strong softball team for all abilities, with members who sometimes struggle to reach the bathrooms near the soccer fields in time.
“It’s quite a distance for us … and the toilets are too small for people with special needs and especially people with wheelchairs,” she said.
She hoped a facility could also include a hoist and a change area.
Election candidate Joel Everett supported Ms Rath’s presentation.
“If we’re looking at being an inclusive city, this one thing that really needs to happen,” he said.
In the report to councillors, the projects receiving the highest number of votes were the hockey field on 182 votes and the women’s shelter on 160 votes.
