Robyn Hicks has been packing boxes to send to children in developing, war-torn and disaster affected areas for the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child since the initiative started in Orange.

She said they started with six boxes 20 years ago but last year 1500 were sent from the Orange regional.
Each box contains items to love, wear, play with, for school, hygiene and something special.
“I just want to see children exceed and grow,” Mrs Hicks said.
“I’ve worked with children all my life and children just need to be supported.”
Through her volunteering with Operation Christmas Child, Mrs Hicks also went to northern Vietnam to meet some of the recipients, see how they live and what other programs Samaritan’s Purse offer.
She said she works with children through her work as a dental therapist and she has previously been involved with Cubs and ran the children’s program at the Christian Ministry Centre, along with fellow Operation Christmas Child organiser Jenny Abbott.
