Orange CYMS star-in-waiting Tyrone Harrison was quick to push the spotlight onto his teammates, despite rampaging his way to the man-of-the-match award in his side’s Group 10 under 18s grand final win at Wade Park.
Simply, Harrison was unbelievable on Sunday. He was all through 2017, whether he was playing in his own age group or starring in the club’s premier league outfit.
Harrison led CYMS’ pack on Sunday afternoon, carrying countless times, eating metres and getting the green and golds on the front foot.
In the 47th minute, he scored a well-deserved try that sparked the side’s remarkable finish.
“Mate, it really was a team effort. All the boys lifted in those last stages, they had to. You don’t win premierships from one player’s performance,” he said.
“We all put in, we all did the hard work and we all came out with the result, as a group.”
Although he was incredibly humble and team-focused, Harrison did admit to being over the moon with the award.
“It’s icing on the cake for me personally, but we play for the premierships, not the individual awards,” he smiled.
“I played a bit of first grade this year, which helped, but that’s the thing. I’d say anyone in this side could, that’s how much ability there is.
“I just drawn out of the hat, but it was a real honour for me to play first grade.”
