Ratepayers association president Tony Mileto and the only woman standing for mayor, Paula Townsend, are heading a ticket with Colin Young, Jason Wright, Rose Hodgins and Kerry Rains.
Mr Mileto said the size of the field for the election, with 87 candidates nominating, showed Orange people wanted a new voice.
“It’s a record number. It shows people are demanding change,” he said.
“The ratepayer should no longer have to pay for the poor decisions made by council due to its lack of forward thinking.”
He cited the Northern Distributor Road, the aquatic centre pool, the airport runway, a lack of infrastructure in north Orange and millions of dollars used to buy land at the proposed airport business park and the Shiralee Estate as evidence of where money had been wasted.
They are proposing a three-year freeze of water and sewerage rates, upgrades for sporting facilities, roads and footpaths and a 24/7 mental health facility.
