It was always going to be close, but as it was they couldn’t be separated, playing out a 36-36 draw.
Sunday’s results went as expected with Manildra defeating Eugowra 40-18, ending the Eagles’ finals chances. Trundle was far too strong for Canowindra, scoring a resounding 40-14 win.
The final match of the round was at Young, where the Cargo Blue Heelers were way too good for Burrangong.
The Heelers ran out 68-18 winners, but it was a win that came at a cost, with big prop Matt Taylor fracturing his ankle and being ruled out for the rest of the season.
Condobolin, after a bye, is left lamenting close losses, even if the Rams defeat Manildra next week they will miss the finals.
In Youth League Trundle, the competition leaders, defeated Canowindra 26-8 while Eugowra forfeited to Manildra.
In a full League tag round, undefeated competition leaders Grenfell Goannettes won 58-0 over Peak Hill Chicks, Cargo defeated Burrangong 52-0, Trundle won 28-0 over Canowindra and Eugowra won 26-10 in a close game over Manildra.
The venues for the semi-finals will be set down in the coming week.
