A meeting will be held at Orange Regional Conservatorium’s studio six from 7pm to discuss performing opportunities and community involvement in the orchestra.
Orchestra president Robin Thompson said the group was formed in 1984, but stopped in 2012 due to insufficient funds for its professional musicians.
However, she said the orchestra had been re-incorporated with support of the conservatorium, the Orange Regional Arts Foundation and the Colour City Chamber Orchestra and hoped to have it ready for the opening of the new conservatorium building at Orange Civic Centre.
“It’s a really long-term plan but with the excitement of having a new conservatorium, we have to have a symphony orchestra that is a quality community orchestra,” Mrs Thompson said.
Rehearsals are due to start in the new year.
Mrs Thompson hoped the orchestra would attract retired musicians to live in Orange down the track.
Everyone is welcome at the meeting, in particular prospective orchestra members, patrons and sponsors.
Participants can bring their own drinks and nibbles, with tea and coffee provided.
