Now, Mudgee will be the scene of one of Central NSW’s biggest gigs of the year, with the Gurus celebrating the 30th anniversary of What’s My Scene when they headline A Day of the Green on Saturday, November 4 at Robert Oatley Vineyards.
This will be a gig jam-packed with hits, with the Gurus playing their crowd-pleasing catalogue, including classics such as Like Wow – Wipeout, Bittersweet, Come Anytime, Miss Freelove ’69, My Girl, 1000 Miles Away, among many others. The band last headlined the event in 2008.
Joining the Gurus will be Baby Animals, Jebidiah, Models and Alex Lloyd.
Fronted by the compelling Suze DeMarchi, Baby Animals roared into Aussie rock history in the early 90s with their eight-times platinum self-titled debut album. After disbanding in 1996, they made a triumphant return in 2008, before releasing their fifth studio album in 2013.
Jebediah, a Perth-based band, first rose to fame winning the National Campus Band Competition. Crafting a Triple J favourite with Jerks of the Afternoon, they have continued their hits into the noughties with Fall Down and She’s Like A Comet.
Models have often been praised as an innovative and imaginative Australian band, more than four decades after their originally broke into the scene. With chart-topping runs for I Hear Motion, Big On Love, Barbados and Out of Mind, Out of Sight, they have proven that models never go out of style.
Finally, Alex Lloyd is one of Australia’s most popular singer-songwriters, first coming onto the scene with Black the Sun in 1997. The multi-ARIA award winner continued his run with Green, Coming Home, 1000 Miles, Everybody’s Laughing and Never Meant To Sail, before releasing his seventh studio album Acoustica just last year.
This summer season marks the 17th year of A Day on the Green, which started in January 2001. The event – attracts thousands every year – creates a boom for the local economy, with concertgoers travelling to Mudgee from all over the central west.
After more than 425 shows and 3 million happy patrons, the A Day On The Green experience of good food, good wine and great music is firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular concert events. Tickets for the Mudgee festival are $99.90, with tickets going on sale at Ticketmaster from 10am Monday, July 10.
