Head brewer Jon Shiner said the MAD Stout was about combining the tastes of Mexico, Australia and Dublin in a glass.
Devised by assistant brewer Tim Roach, the beer includes single origin cocoa, finger limes and chilli.
“GABS is an opportunity to do some crazy stuff, it was Tim’s idea and we refine it to make the best beer that we can,” Mr Shiner said.
The Agrestic Grocer will offer a limited supply of the beer after GABS.
Oriental tastes
The Hotel Canobolas is expanding its menu. A Thai kitchen is set to open which will complement the hotel’s already extensive range of wood-fired pizzas, steaks and more.
Construction on Paul and Wan’s Gong Thai Garden is still under way.
“It will be located in the main area downstairs, off to the side of the courtyard,” hotel general manager Jared Dyllon said.
Skill-based board
Mark Madigan has been re-elected president of Orange Business Chamber.
Bel Quince is vice-president, Gary Holway will be treasurer and Peter McCormack is secretary.
“It’s the second year that we’ve focused on a skill-based board, we’re trying to cover as many different skills which are found at the Orange Business Chamber,” Mr Madigan said.
Board members include Tony Healy, Rhonda Taylor, Nicole Chapman, Kevin McGuire, Aaron Suthers, Shawn Dwyer and David Sutton.
Property sold
After failing to sell at auction, 177 Lords Place has sold for an undisclosed amount.
Hog’s Breath Cafe will continue on a long-term lease.
Selling agent Chris Gryllis said a local investor saw the property a few weeks after auction and made an offer.
“There’s still strong demand on commercial property in Orange, especially in the CBD, investors are looking for quality long term tenancies,” he said.
New boss
Charlie Wollaston has been named the Orange branch manager for Kennards Hire.
Mr Wollaston has been with Kennards since 2010.
