There was an astounding 64 kids who registered, which was fantastic to see all the courts full.
The Clinic was meant to run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, but due to the freezing drop in temp on Monday our coaches, Darren and Alison, decided to run it on Tuesday morning and all day Wednesday.
A mini tournament was held on the last day, as well as a presentation of awards to all winners and most improved.
This week’s clinic, run by Coach Stuart, goes from Wednesday to Friday, April 19-21 9am-3pm, at $60 per day, or 9am-noon at $30.
If kids are keen to attend the whole three full days, there is a special price of $150.
A barbeque and pizza lunch will be provided each day, so kids only need to bring some spending money for the canteen and wear appropriate clothing, hats and sunscreen.
Names are coming in fast for this clinic, so to register your child’s name, please phone tennis club on 63628020, or alternatively, drop in and pick up a rego form.
Some of our Junior Members have been travelling around the region recently, playing in the Junior Development Series Tournaments.
Among those are Megan Neville, who attended both the Bathurst JDS at the end of March and the Parkes JDS on the April 2.
She felt that she played well in both by making it to the quarter finals, even though she was up against some strong opposition.
Hugh Payne, who is only nine, played in the Bathurst JDS, on a very hot weekend in February, in the under 14s, “just for fun “ he said.
He amazingly had one win along with some other good games. He also played up two grades again, in the Lithgow JDS, in the under 14s and won a few games there too.
Hughie is a player, who loves to go up an age group, just to play against different players, to challenge him. Great to hear.
Our committee are very keen at the moment to start up a Junior Comp, so we are holding a sign up day and sausage sizzle on Wednesday April 26 at 4pm, for all juniors who are interested.
Depending on the entries, we will then sort players into ages and grades and then the Comp will commence on the following Wednesday, May 3 from 4-5.30pm and will run for eight weeks. To register your child, or for any enquiries, please phone clubhouse.
Mixed Social will be held this Sunday from 1.30pm on, with committee person , Carol Hartin on duty.
The winner of the free hit voucher last Sunday was Col Parsons.
