That much has become clear in the last two Orange District Cricket Association grand finals when CYMS’ Superman, Hugh Le Lievre, pummeled centuries to lead his side to back-to-back victories.
Both very different innings but equally as important, in 2014-15 Le Lievre entered the fray at 2-8 and made a match-winning 119. Last season, he came in a 3-71 before being dismissed for 100, inspiring his side to a mammoth 8-335.
He’d battled illness all week before the second one too.
So, can he do it again this weekend?
“Surely not? I mean, surely he can’t go three in a row?” Cavaliers all-rounder Josh Doherty laughed.
“Look, he’s batted incredibly in the last two grand finals and is obviously one of the best big game players in the competition.
“He’s a danger man, probably CYMS’ biggest, and I think if we can keep him quiet along with guys like Al Dhatt and Peter Gott, we’ll be on the right track.”
This weekend’s decider kicks off at 1pm on Saturday and resumes at 10am on Sunday.
