Colour City Creatives Outback and Downunder Australian Landscapes Exhibition, which will run in conjunction with the Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival, will showcase the works of both the famous bush poet and award-winning, contemporary artist Dennis Claydon.
Beyond all of the technique was a man whose spirit really connected to the country.

Mr Claydon, who passed away from cancer in November last year, will be honoured as the feature artist.
Mr Claydon was an active member of Colour City Creatives and won multiple awards for his artworks.
Colour City Creatives publicity officer Jolanta Nejman encouraged members of the community to attend the exhibition.
“I would say to people, give yourself a chance to see what contemporary Australian landscape looks like and how it has developed,” Ms Nejman said.
“A lot of people come to country towns like Orange and expect to see traditional landscape like gum trees, men on horses and farm scenes.
“Dennis looked beyond that and saw the spirit of the landscape.”
Ms Nejman said Dennis’ artworks demonstrated more than just strong technical capabilities.
“Beyond all of the technique was a man whose spirit really connected to the country,” she said.
Mr Claydon’s wife Gae said she was “thrilled” to have Dennis’s work featured.
“We’re pretty happy that it’ll be on [at the gallery], it’s a bit of a tribute to him,” she said.
Ms Nejman said she was always blown away by the high standard of pieces Colour City Creatives artists produced, with more than 50 artists creating a variety of works ranging from sculptures and pottery and prints and paintings.
“Everyone brings their own story, their own experiences, their own love of the country and even when we all do the same thing, it’s all so different,” she said.
“Come and see Dennis and the rest of the mob’s work, they are just amazing artists.”
The Outback and Downunder Australian Landscapes Exhibition will be held at Colour City Creatives Gallery and Studios, 2b Peisley Street from 10am to 4pm from Thursday, February 16 to Sunday, February 26. Entry via a gold coin donation.
