Wanderers entered Saturday’s Orange District Cricket Association Third Grade Twenty20 final red-hot favourites and they delivered on that status, claiming a reasonably comfortable win over CYMS Bourkes to claim their first piece of silverware for the summer.

Wanderers won three of their four preliminary games and batted first in all of them, passing 200 on more than one occasion, so CYMS’ decision to force the favourites to chase looked a clever one considering their penchant for setting targets.
But, proving they’re not one-trick ponies, Wanderers turned it on with the ball.
The blue caps skittled CYMS for just 94, with Gav Smith and Mark Wiegold both taking three wickets each.
Although the green and golds made it tough in the chase, snaring seven wickets, Wanderers passed the total reasonably comfortably, with three overs in hand.
Luke Schuyler once again held CYMS’ batting together, knocking up 56 of the Bourkes’ 94. He finished as the competition’s leading run-scorer, with 188 at an average of 37.6.
Wiegold (3-8) and Smith (3-12) were Wanderers’ main destroyers, while Smith (17) was also one of the best in his side’s chase.
Although Wanderers were 7-56 and in trouble, Nic Freedman’s hard-hitting 30 not out got them over the line.
Cavaliers scored a massive win over Orange City in Saturday night’s second round of the Centenary Cup Twenty20, under lights at Wade Park.
Zac Pavy’s 49 led the maroons to 8-123 before Trent Fliedner snared 3-4 to help roll the Warriors for just 32.
In second grade Orange City (8-163) defeated Gladstone (69), Centrals (84) were thumped by Waratahs CSU (8-183) and Cavaliers (126) defeated Kinross (9-109).
