Then the Orange Pealers, the local band of bell ringers working the ropes at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church could be for you.
Tower captain Sheena Snowdon said they were considering ways to make bell ringing appealing to the younger generations.
“We are lucky to have the bells. It would be such a shame if we couldn’t pass that onto the next generation,” she said.
“It would be good if we could get together a band of school children.”
The 14 members from various backgrounds play weddings, parties and anything, well, mainly Sunday services and special occasions.
Bell ringing is a complex team activity that can take up to two years to learn so they are keen to spread the word.
Member Jim Woolford said peer group pressure made children feel ringing the bells was not cool.
“Our challenge is to make it cool,” he said.
