Belmonte was placed 12th, missing out on the top eight placings which compete in the stepladder finals broadcast live on American TV.
The winner takes home nearly $40,000 and the prized green jacket.
Belmonte told his Facebook followers: “Finished my US Open campaign with a 12th place finish.
“Of course it's disappointing to not lace the shoes up one more time for TV but only those who bowl the best deserve that right and the leaders truly deserve their place on TV.
“I wish all the guys bowling the best of luck.”
In the match play section Belmonte hit 12,461 pins which was 167 less than the eighth placed Mexican Arturo Quintero.
American Marshall Kent led the way to claim the top seed with 13,467 pins hit in the matchplay.
