Orange’s Jordan Bruce will be hoping for slightly better fortunes when he heads to the 2016 National Youth Boys’ Football Championships in Coffs Harbour early next month.

Last year, after being named for NSW Country’s under-13 side, a broken foot suffered the weekend before the championships forced him to watch the entire competition from the sidelines.
This year he was named in the under-14 side and has understandably wrapped himself in cotton wool in the lead-up.
He’ll also be joined by another of the colour city’s best in Mitchell Cooper, four more central west guns will also slot into Country’s under-13 and under-14 sides.
Both Orange High School students, both Bruce and Cooper play their club football for Western NSW Mariners FC in the NSW National Premier League Youth competition’s second division.
They’ll head to Coffs Harbour from October 3-8, where they’ll take on Victoria Country, Queensland Country, Northern NSW Country, Tasmania and NSW Metropolitan White in the preliminary pool B stage.
The duo joins other players from Western NSW along with Riverina and South Coast in the Country side – the southern areas of NSW.
In a blockbuster competition-opener NSW Country will take on Queensland Country in a State of Origin-style match-up on Monday, October 3.
