Orange has a unique place in the history of the NSW Police Force. It was at the corner of Byng and Sale streets on June 16, 1862 that Constable William Haviland became the first NSW officer to be killed on duty.

More than 250 officers across NSW have since suffered this fate including four other officers in the Canobolas Local Area Command.
The Command will hold its annual Remembrance Day service at St Johns Anglican Church in Cowra on Thursday from 11am.
