In addition to organising two events on Saturday, Walk 4 Hope at Robertson Park from 12pm and High Tea 4 HD from 2.30pm at Duntryleague Guesthouse, she has arranged a Huntington’s disease mural in the alleyway connecting Coles to Summer Street.
The design features a pink and green tree, which represents the disease and its symptoms.
“We’ve chosen the colours of pink and green which are the colours for the Huntington’s NSW logo, a DNA strand as the tree trunk because it is a genetic disease, the number four as it appears on the number four chromosome and we’ve chosen pink and leaves to represent some of the symptoms,” Ms Brooking said.
Ms Brooking said she hoped the mural sparked conversations between community members.
“It’s a symbol of solidarity, it’s showing support throughout the community and it’s bringing something bright and nice to look at,” she said.
Approximately 600 people live with Huntington’s disease in NSW and ACT.
