But Orange CYMS’ club championship win was as close as it gets.
The green and golds won minor premiership in premier league, first division and under-18s, while the club’s league tag side featured in the finals in 2016 as well.
It was the first time the club has won all three senior men’s minor premiership in the one season.
The club was presented with the club championship shield for the second straight season at the Group 10 awards night at Bathurst Panthers last Friday.
CYMS president Dave Penny, in his first year in the top job, said such an achievement is born from consistency.
“It’s still a great effort by the club,” Penny said.
“All four of our coaches are on the same page, and that helps on game day. The consistency in that regard is really what’s gotten us here.”
He said Sunday – the fourth Group 10 grand final day CYMS has hosted since 2010 – was going to be a cracking day, with six of the nine clubs in the competition represented in deciders.
Blayney’s win through to the grand final in league tag upped the representation of clubs to five initially - the Bears knocked out minor premiers Panthers in their preliminary final bout last weekend.

But Lithgow’s stunning come-from-behind win in the under-18s over minor premiers CYMS then took the number of club’s in grand finals to six.
Mudgee, Bathurst Panthers, CYMS, Lithgow, Blayney and Bathurst St Pat’s will all vie for premierships at Wade Park this weekend.
“It’s going to be massive,” Penny enthused.
“Literally, as soon as the full-time siren went for first grade two weeks ago (when CYMS won 22-20 over Bathurst Panthers in the major semi-final) the committee went to work.
“The wheels have been in motion for a while now.
“The committee has been in regular contact and we’ll start preparation for Sunday’s grand final on Friday with set up.
“The help we’ve received from council has been great, they’ve chipped in, and Kennards Hire has helped us as well.
“We’re really looking forward to the day.”
League tag kicks off the 2016 grand final day at 9.30am, with under-18s kicking off at 11, first division at 12.30pm and then premier league, Mudgee against minor premier Orange CYMS, scheduled for 2.30pm.
The gates at Wade Park open at 8am.
