This was the case for Calare Public School student Ella Lamrock, who received a Fred Hollows Humanity Award on Wednesday.
Deputy principal Colleen Alchin said Ella put “110 percent” into everything she did.
“Ella’s strengths lie in her selflessness, positivity and her ability to communicate with people from all walks of life,” Ms Alchin said.
As a young child, Ella donated all her birthday presents to children at the Ronald McDonald House.
Last year, she cut her hair and used to make a wig for someone who had lost their hair through chemotherapy.
She also coordinated a barbecue which raised $2432 for children living with cancer, and an out of uniform day and cake stall which raised $1030 for the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life.
