Most councils across the state will have general council elections but there will be no general election in Orange because a decision on a merger with Cabonne Council and Blayney Shire Council is still pending.
Despite ratepayers voting in 2012 to have a popularly-elected mayor from 2016, the Office of Local Government has advised the council to hold a mayoral election as it would normally.
Orange mayor John Davis said the meeting would be held at 6pm.
“We’re getting on with the job,” he said.
