The program was initially run by the Department of Education in Orange but funding cuts resulted in its cancellation six years ago.
However, the Orange District Early Education Program (ODEEP) has brought it back for parents to learn to aid babies’ development.
ODEEP parent educator Ros Bench said new enrolments should have children aged up to 12 months and the program will run until a baby is 18 months old but information provided will be relevant for children aged up to three.
Mrs Bench said at 10am each Friday the program will provide information on child development and ways for parents to play with their baby to stimulate development.
Sheila Hume joined the program to see if her four-month-old son Mitchell was reaching his development goals.
“For me we had a few health problems before he was born and after, which may or may not affect his development,” Mrs Hume said.
Shelley Burke and Alicia Holmes said they wanted to learn new skills to help with their sons’ development.
“I heard about it through a friend and I just wanted to learn different activities to help through his development,” Mrs Holmes said.
“I wanted to learn about activities that I can use to get ahead to give him the best start,” Mrs Burke said.
