Many will recognise one familiar face from around Millthorpe among the actors - Alvaro Marques has been with BTC since 2011.
This murder mystery/comedy, which takes place around the tables and between the meal’s three courses, is set in the 1920s in England at a convention of amateur sleuths.
They have been brought together in honour of a promising young crime writer of the day.
The play has been written by actor-writer Melissa Docker and comes fresh from successful seasons in both Bathurst and at The Carrington, Katoomba.
In Millthorpe, Death or Denial will be presented at Tonic Restaurant, on the corner of Pym and Victoria streets, beginning at 6.30pm on Saturday, June 25.
Bookings can be made with Mary at Blue Gift Shop in Pym Street (0414 971 258) or online atwww.bmec.com.au.
Though not necessary, diners are encouraged to come in 1920s period costume to add to the sense of the occasion.
Chris O’Rourke, BTC president and the director of Death or Denial, says the company “is committed to providing innovative, high-quality theatre using local actors and directors and, where possible, to produce and support local writers”.
“Over the years, BTC has produced plays ranging from the classics like Shakespeare to melodrama, stand-up comedy and radio plays.”
Mr O’Rourke said “BTC is constantly looking for new work and new styles of performance. The opportunity to present dinner theatre in the form of the murder mystery extends its repertoire.”
BTC is well credentialed, proudly boasting over 50 years of theatrical history.
The organisation employs a part-time administrator and casual workshop tutors to run various opportunities targeting young people who have an interest in the dramatic arts.
The company is currently run by volunteers.
