Everything from work benches to pie ovens will be sold in a no reserve tender sale aimed at clearing the site before it officially closes in December.
Site manager Geoff Drummond said once the items are sold, the closing of the iconic Orange business may begin to sink in further.
“It’s definitely starting to feel a bit more real,” he said.
“There are a lot less people around the place and it’s a lot more empty and less busy than when manufacturing was going on - there’s a lot less noise too.
“We’ve just got to keep working through the decommissioning process.”
Electrolux has appointed Australasian Asset Management Pty Ltd (AAM) to facilitate the sale of the machinery and equipment associated with the operation and administration of the former site.
Larger manufacturing equipment will be disassembled, cleaned and sent to factories in Adelaide, Thailand and South America.
Although most Electrolux memorabilia will be donated to the Orange Regional Museum, Mr Drummond said it’s a good chance for members of the public to own a practical piece of history for a bargain price.
“Manufacturing finished in April and now we are in the decommissioning phase,” he said.
“Part of that is selling off all the equipment on site which includes equipment in the canteen, office furniture, everything in meetings rooms, computer equipment, moulding machines, outdoor furniture, fridges, freezers and microwaves and safety equipment.
“There are a lot of things here that would be perfect for local businesses and also handymen who have workshops in their garages at home.”
Members of the public can contact AAM to make an appointment to come and see the equipment before the tender process closes on May 27.
The highest bidder on each item will receive the piece of equipment while any left overs will be donated to charities or schools.
