South Sydney have lost three in a row and questions are being asked as to whether they still can be a force in the competition as they have been for the past four years.
The team that won the premiership in 2014 looks a shell of its former self and their poor start to this season is bringing extreme questioning from outside.
They have provided the Sydney Roosters with their only loss of the season and return home after two strong losses at the hands of Brisbane and North Queensland.
It is fair to assume they have met two of the competitions heavyweights in their past two matches and lining up against the Tigers is a much easier task.
The Tigers won their opening two matches of the season but have subsequently lost six on the trot, including a 60-6 hammering at the hands of Canberra last Saturday.
Teams that get flogged by such a margin can sometimes bounce back the following week but it would be a brave person to suggest the Tigers have the ability to turn it around on Thursday.
They are only getting 6.5 at the line and are $3 in head-to-head betting with the Rabbitohs $1.45.
Our NRL tournament is a great way to get involved in the match, which is the first of eight games for the weekend.
Like our AFL tournament, it costs $10 to play and the entry fee provides $1,000 BettaBucks to use across the entire round.
There is $10,000 cash up for grabs with first prize always at least $2,500.
Saturday’s 5.30pm match between the Sydney Roosters and Newcastle Knights will see the return of Mitchell Pearce.
The Roosters have been without their half back for the opening eight rounds and his addition, along with the return of power forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, has them $1.20 against the Knights, who are sitting only one point ahead on the ladder.
There is no Monday night football this week with the Test Match between Australia and New Zealand on next week, so the final match of the round is Cronulla and Brisbane on Sunday.
The Sharks are outsiders at $2.20 for their home match with Brisbane at $1.75.
