POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged attack on a teenage girl in Orange yesterday.

About 8.20am on Thursday, a 14-year-old girl saw a man on his hands and knees and appearing to be in trouble as she was walking to school across the Anzac Park sporting fields, on Winter Street.
The girl walked over to the man to check his welfare and as she spoke to him he allegedly grabbed her wrist and attempted to pull her towards bushland on the outskirts of the oval.
The girl managed to free herself and ran to her nearby school and reported the matter to her principal.
Fortunately she was not hurt.
The man has been described to police as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance with a light brown complexion, aged in his late 20s to early 30s and between 175 to 185cm tall with short dark hair and dark eyes.
At the time of the incident the man was wearing dark clothing.
A full investigation is now underway and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man matching this description hanging around Anzac Park, or areas nearby, to contact them at Orange Police Station on 6363 6399.
