The truck carrying sheep overturned about 9am on the Renshaw-McGirr Way, 12km south of Yeoval.
It is understood the driver managed to get himself out of the vehicle before the arrival of emergency services.
He was transported to hospital with minor injuries and is in a stable condition.
It is believed that over 100 sheep have been killed in the incident.
The road was closed for several hours.
Wellington police, State Emergency Service personnel, Rural Fire Service firefighters and local Yeoval farmers were in attendance at the scene.
