While huge accolades were posted on ours at Manildra run by a few voluntary locals and support from Cabonne Council when needed, bigger places like Orange were said not to have the same ratings.
This has prompted me to think about various things like our local footy ground, our hall - all immaculate, no eyesores like the old base hospital, Kurim shopping centre complex and the Northern Distributor Road problems in Orange.
Orange mayor John Davis is a fair man, but the famous Lleyton Hewitt would say, “C’mon”, you have enough on your plate without needing to amalgamate.
I am not only talking about Manildra, but Molong, Eugowra, Cumnock etc. All in pretty good shape.
We are comfortable in Cabonne and don’t need neglect of our amenities such as pools, halls, parks etc.
And what about the staff and councillors and the premises they now occupy. More unemployment.
Thank-you Andrew Gee for having the guts to see and say what is correct.
If old Professor Julius Sumner Miller was still around and lived in Cabonne he would probably ask: “Why is it so?” My answer is simply: “I just don’t know.”
