It is a tradition followed by Scots across the globe to gather on or near the Scottish national poet’s birthday, January 25, to honour his life and works that influenced much of Scotland’s culture, and members of the Orange and District Scottish Association and Burns Club are no exception.
Members and guests will gather at the Orange City Bowling Club’s Starlight room on February 5 for the annual Burns Supper, which will include a three-course meal featuring haggis, as well as traditional atholl brose to toast Burns’ name.
The guest of honour Angus McGregor, from Cardiff, near Lake Macquarie, who is heavily involved in the Hunter Valley Scots Club, will give the annual oration on the Immortal Memory of Robbie Burns.
The supper begins at 6.30pm for 7pm and tickets cost $40 per person.
To book, contact Myra Howell on 6362 6235 or Charlene Lambert on 6362 2370 by January 29.
