The team have run the tour during FOOD Week for the last two years, and co-owner Danielle Martin said when they decided to run the event as part of the wine festival it was so popular they had to book two 20-seater buses.
The tour includes morning tea at the cafe, a visit to Cargo Road Wines to sample James Sweetapple’s wines, then to Beau Baddock’s orchard Glenidle before heading to Mandagery Creek for a farm tour by venison producer Tim Hansen and lunch cooked by Sophie Hansen.
Mrs Martin said the Moveable Feast was a mix of farm tours and gastronomical delights for patrons to see how product gets to plate.
“We wanted to give a connection to the farm and for people to get the experience of life there,” Mrs Martin said.
“It incorporates the rural aspects of the festival.”
She said the tour sold out quickly with great interest from locals as well as visitors.
“Locals are just as interested in what farmers do in the area,” Mrs Martin said. “They probably drive past these places all the time and this gives them a chance to get their feet dirty so to speak.”.
Other wine festival events on today include a long table lunch at Highland Heritage Estate, a three-course meal with See Saw Wine at Wentworth Golf Club and an evening three-course rustic Italian meal at Cargo Road Wines.
