Wet weather hampered attendance on Thursday, however numbers improved on Friday and administration manager Jayne West said Saturday’s attendance was about 1000 people more than the same day last year.
“All up we think it was sitting around the 18,000-mark,” she said.
“We really had promoted Saturday as a family day and the family tickets were higher.
“We also did a multi-day pass where you could come on the Thursday or Friday and come back on the Saturday for $5 - it put more people on the site.”
She said exhibitors found most of the people on Thursday were there to buy.
The 2015 field days concluded on Saturday with stilt walkers, a giant slide, live music and 186-time world champion axeman David Foster.
Chairman Dan Toohey said ANFD organisers were confident about the event’s future and hoped to invest in major upgrades to the facilities, including a new function centre, sheep yards and cattle yards.
He said most people felt the event was a good place to see the market.
“We’re still a reasonably agriculture-focused field days, but we’re trying to get a range of things to do for the whole family,” he said.
This year was the first for home improvement business Stratco and regional manager Troy Campbell said there had been some good quality leads.
“We’ll be doing quotes and estimates back in the office and hopefully it will turn into projects,” he said.
