Cowra Motors has teamed up with the Cowra Triathlon Club to provide extra incentive for competitors to take part in the first race of the series.
With a view to increasing participation on a district level as well as from competitors, new Cowra Motors dealer principal Frank Ostini, who is also a member of the Orange Cycle and Triathlon Club, is putting up $200 in prizemoney to be split among the first overall competitors and first local competitors to complete the grand prix course.
Ostini said he was hoping the money on offer would increase participation in Cowra and also set a challenge for other clubs in the Central West to offer extra incentive for athletes to take part in the series.
The first male and female competitors to complete the Cowra course will receive $50 in prizemoney as will the first Cowra male and female competitors to finish.
The Cowra race will be held in Taragala with the bike leg along Taragala Street, the swim at the Cowra Aquatic Centre and the run within the confine of River Park.
Competitors from Orange, Bathurst, Mudgee, Dubbo as well as Cowra will take part in the first race of the series which involves competitors completing a two kilometre run, a 200 metre swim, 9km bike ride followed by another 200 metre swim and 9km bike ride, finishing with a 2km run.
Shorter races will also be held for younger competitors from each of the club.
