REGARDLESS of the fact it’s been moved from Wade Park to Mudgee’s Glen Willow Sporting Complex, Orange Hawks will win the Group 10 under 18 major semi-final on Sunday.

If you ask me they’ll win by plenty too, that team is nigh on untouchable.
But that’s beside the point.
Hawks’ gripe, and mine too, is that they have to play in Mudgee in the first place.
I do need to say this; even though Hawks won the minor title undefeated they in no way earned the right to host that final.
That’s not how lower grades work.
Where they play is dictated by the top grade, but luckily for the two blues Orange CYMS won the minor trophy, meaning the major semi-finals would be at Wade Park.
And they are. Except for the under 18 game.
That’s been switched, giving Mudgee the home-ground advantage and, in turn, Orange CYMS a home game in the minor semi-final.
The first division minor semi-final between Oberon and Cowra was also moved to Orange.
To me, it doesn’t really make sense.
I can understand where Group 10 is coming from in moving finals around, I really can, they have the majority’s best interests at heart. But it complicates things, setting a less-than-ideal precedent in the process.
The reason I was given is that the league tag minor semi-final on Saturday clashed with netball and hockey finals, which could have potentially led to forfeits.
No one wants that.
But I’ve been told Glen Willow was booked on Saturday, as well as Sunday, so my question is: wouldn’t it have been easier to just move the league tag minor semi-final to Sunday in Orange, and leave everything else as it was, based on the original standings?
Doesn’t that alleviate the problem in the simplest possible way?
