The central west woman received plenty of praise when she took on the challenging song in The Voice on Sunday night.
Her coach, UK sensation Jessie J, chose the difficult song for her to showcase a different side of Ms Adams that no one had seen.
“Cath has a big voice, so I’ve given her one of the soul greats – Aretha Franklin,” Jessie J said.
Ms Adams was wary of singing something so iconic, but took on the challenge of making the classic her own.

From a quiet start, to hitting the biggest notes, she demonstrated every inch of her range while injecting a few dance moves and power poses into her standout performance.
The band and backing vocalists joined her on stage, giving a more professional concert atmosphere.
“It was awesome to have all the musos on stage around me,” Ms Adams said.
“They were a bit of security for me – I was feeding off them.”
Ms Adams said she felt “really good” about her performance, and her comments were echoed by her coach.
