AT this stage, former Orange City and now Dubbo hooker Josh Tremain has dismissed his chances of a miracle comeback from injury, and a return to Pride Park in tomorrow’s round 11 Blowes Clothing Cup clash.
Tremain dislocated his shoulder playing for Central West at the NSW Country Championships in May, and although he avoided surgery he was facing the very realistic possibility of the injury ending his season.
However, he’s had a remarkable recovery, and despite conceding emotion might be clouding his judgement slightly, Tremain said there is a very slight chance he could run on against his former club tomorrow.
“Temptation might get the better of me,” he laughed, conceding the opportunity is nigh on irresistible.
“But at the moment, it’s a no. I’m not quite there, and even though I was pretty desperate to get back in time for this game I’d hate to play and hurt it again.
“It’s touch and go, I’d say if I don’t play this weekend I will be able to next week. The coaches have left the decision up to me, so you never know, but I don’t think so.
“Either way, I’ll be there watching and catching up with everyone, I’ll just be sitting on the other side of the fence.”
Tremain, a former NSW Country Cockatoos representative and the heart and soul of Orange City for the best part of a decade, said despite being a steadfast Kangaroo now, he has been pleased to see the competition-leading Lions continue to perform so well.
“It’s great to see them doing so well, they’re the benchmark at the moment I think,” Tremain said.
“I view Orange City a bit differently now, but I’m still glad to see them kicking along. They lost a lot of guys, and it shows the depth at the club.
“For us, we’re missing a few [tomorrow], but we’re starting to play some good footy though. It’s been a slow season, but once everyone is back I think we’ll give it a good shake.”
