Ahead of the official day on Thursday, May 28, Cancer Council staff and coffee caravan Little Matilda Lou’s Samara Driscoll and Peter Farag were in Post Office Lane selling morning tea and raising awareness of the campaign.
Cancer Council Western NSW communication and events coordinator Brianna Carracher said many people had stopped at the stall and purchased something to eat and drink.
She said about 300 morning teas had been registered in the central west so far, and hoped even more people would decide to host an event.
“Everyone loves a cuppa and a scone. It’s a really good chance to get together and catch up over coffee for a good cause,” Ms Carracher said.
“If it’s with your work colleagues or with your family at home, every event, no matter how small, helps us to fight back against cancer.”
The organisation hopes to raise $270,000 through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea events held in the central west.
Events can be held throughout May and June.
