That’s exactly what’s happened this year, despite the passing of show stalwart Betty Naylor who for decades was the face of Orange Show.
With the Orange Show Society headed up by president Peter Naylor, Betty’s son, the baton has been well and truly passed on.
This year in a special effort the committee has rallied to share in all those many and varied jobs that Mrs Naylor did in her role, right up until just a couple of weeks before she passed away.
Indeed some committee members have said many of the jobs automatically carried out by Betty flew under the radar until she wasn’t here any more.
However her presence will forever remain a part of the Orange Show and it is hoped in the future after the new pavilion at the showground is built, it will eventually bear Mrs Naylor’s name.
It’s heartening to see entries are up on many sections from last year, and it is hoped members of the public will embrace the show with the enthusiasm to ensure its ongoing success.
Organising the Orange Show is a year-round event for the hard-working committee members who are calling on the people of Orange and district to come out today and tomorrow in large numbers to support the show.
Just a reminder that the speed limit is reduced to 20km/h in the streets around the showground today and tomorrow.
