Mr Allen said most people in his area were house proud and mowed their lawns and maintained their properties, but the actions of one Housing Plus resident in Leura Road was ruining the streetscape.
“There’s mess and rubbish in the backyard and grass is coming up over the fence,” he said.
“Trees are growing out of the nature strip.”
Mr White said the shabby look of the property downgraded the area and made it look like a slum.
“If there’s someone living in the house who’s capable of mowing the lawn then they should do it,” he said.
“There are also people who will mow lawns cheaply. There’s no reason why the yard should look like that.”
Mr White said he had contacted Housing Plus three times in the past 20 days complaining of the problem, but was told a contractor was dealing with the issue.
Housing Plus’ chief executive officer Karen Andrew said she was aware of the problem and expected it to be resolved soon.
She said she had only received one complaint about the property.
