The exhibition, titled Here and There, will open at Good Eddy Cafe’s gallery at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, featuring a mix of Bruce’s projects.
It will include images from rural Australia, mask shots from Venice and Helsinki, and wildlife shots from Botswana, as well as portraits of actress Cate Blanchett and Nora Heysen, daughter of artist Hans Heysen.
Many have never been printed before.
“Galleries are often themed, but in a smaller exhibition you can mix up the images quite well,” Bruce said.
“It is, if you like, a look over the fence into the backyard of my photography.”
He said among his favourites were the images he took of hippos, leopards and the birdlife in Botswana on the Okavango Delta.
“I knew there would be a lot of animals, but I didn’t realise how amazing the birdlife would be,” he said.
Bruce was also fond of the photos of renowned photographer the late Max Dupain during his visit to Orange.
“He had an exhibition here called To Orange With Love in 1988 and I was asked to be his guide and he let me photograph him working,” he said.
“He was quite a mentor to me and he taught me about the importance of life in photographs, which is one of the fundamental things in photography.”
The opening will also feature Turning Circles, a ceramic exhibition by Marian Howell.
The exhibitions will run until February 27.
