Duntryleague scored a comprehensive 4-1 victory over a buoyant Parkes unit at Cowra Golf Club on Sunday, after having hosting rights and therefore a bye in round one.
Surprisingly, Orange golfing legend Robert Payne was the only one of Duntryleague’s five golfers to lose his leg, going down 4 and 3 to Luke Hodges.
Dean Turner earned a tight 1 up win on the first playoff hole against Matt Egan, while James Conran scored a massive 6 and 5 victory over Mitch McGlashen.
Duntryleague skipper Rob Parfett took care of Alan Jewell easily, winning 4 and 3, while Craig Stojanovic routed Blake Parker 6 and 5.
Duntryleague also enjoyed a 3-2 win in division two, over Bathurst, but lost out in division three and four, 3-2 to Parkes and 3-2 to Bathurst respectively.
In the division one pool B clash Forbes scored the first win of its campaign, downing Bathurst 3-2.
In pool A’s other lower division results, Forbes defeated Cowra 3-2 and Parkes downed Blayney 3-2 in division two, while Bathurst overcame Forbes 3-2 in division three. Cowra defeated Forbes 4-1 in the other division four clash.
Pool B’s fixtures were all played at Wentworth on Sunday, with Mudgee bouncing back from a 5-nil loss to Dubbo last week with a strong 3-2 victory over Wellington in division one.
Ex-Services took on Dubbo in divisions two, three and four, losing all clashes - 4-1, 3-2 and 4-1 respectively.
Mudgee took on Wellington in all three of the lower divisions as well, with the latter coming up trumps in all three fixtures.
Wellington won 3-2, 3-2 and 4-1 in divisions two, three and four respectively.
