JASON Belmonte on Thursday rocketed up the United States Bowling Congress Masters leaderboard on the back of a stellar block of games.

Belmonte is the defending champion for the event and is guaranteed a place in the match play rounds, however he still wanted to finish as high in qualifying as possible.
The Orange bowler was tied for 62nd after Wednesday’s first block of five qualifying games on 1098.
Yesterday morning (AEDT) Belmonte turned in one of the top blocks of the day with his 1203 pushing him up to a share of 11th on the ladder.
Belmonte started with games of 245, 256 and 224 before having a low game of 199.
He finished strongly with a 279 to have a 10-game total of 2301 and a share of 11th place with American Austin Boulds.
Pete Weber still leads the field on 2478.
The field is to bowl the final five qualifying games this morning.
After this the top 63 bowlers and Belmonte will move into the double elimination match play rounds.
From this the top five will move into the televised finals.
