DESPITE a “torrid run” in Narromine just four days ago, Orange trainer Jeff Brasch is certain his charge Devil In A Dress is a contender in the third at Bathurst’s Tyers Park this afternoon.

Devil In A Dress ran seventh of nine at Narromine four days ago, and Brasch said all he can hope for in today’s $15,000 Greenacres Turf Farm Benchmark 60 Handicap (1800m) is a better run than that one.
“She just had no luck at all in Narromine,” he said.
“She just had a torrid run mid-race. But what’s done is done there.
“She backs up really well. She ran third on Dubbo Derby Day, and backed that up four days later by getting beaten by a nose at Orange then she won at Wellington a week later.
“So there is no issue about the lack of time between races, she should be amongst them (today).”
Brasch focused on the win at Wellington just over a month ago in the lead up to today’s race, labelling the run “bold, and very strong”.
“(Jockey) Ken Dunbar made a bold move pushing her to the front, quickly, mid-race,” Brasch said.
“They warn you not to push uphill at Wellington but she stayed at the front, it was a strong win against a strong field.
“She’s turned into a good honest mare, and if she runs like that again (today) she’s a real chance.”
The Nick Moraitis - owner of Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winning legend Might and Power - owned four-year-old bay mare will jump from barrier two in today’s feature race, with Blake Spriggs on board.
“I’m very pleased to have Blake on board,” Brasch said.
“He’s a very a good jockey, and I’m hoping he’ll ride her in second or third until around the home turn.
“This is the strongest field, with some good horses running but if Blake can hit the front from there the only question will be if she can sustain it, but she should be right up there.”
