IT is hard to believe that after a decade Orange City Council is no closer to choosing a location for a toilet block in Robertson Park, let alone a design.

Orange was relieved, pun intended, when councillors approved a $180,000 toilet block for Robertson Park in July but alas, further objections arose and again the toilet block was put on hold.
When the idea was first discussed in council chambers, about 10 years ago, Facebook had its debut.
The television series Sex and the City and Friends were drawing to an end when councillors were discussing the merits of providing an amenities block in the city’s park.
Many of us can remember Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe” malfunction at the Super Bowl half time show, but it seems councillors can not remember they have been over the same arguments for and against a brick water closest many times.
Britney Spears has been married twice in the time that has passed since councillors decided they might approach the Country Women’s Association to ask if the public could use its amenities block in Robertson Park.
But still, the association will be asked again. I wonder if Brittany will be so lucky.
The July approved toilet block was to be located on the eastern side of the park along McNamara Street however users of the park spoke last week and said the location would impact on events such as the various night markets that occur periodically.
In 10 years that arguments has not come up.
It seems extraordinary that every avenue concerning the toilets has been investigated to the nth degree except that one.
In 10 years councillors had not sat down with these committees to discuss how the location of a toilet block may or may not impact their community events.
Yet on the same token this issue has been widely publicised and these committees had never objected until now.
Surely the needs of the public should come before the logistical problems faced by committees who hold events at the park a few times a year.
