The round three match at Jack Brabham 1 went down the final ball, with Orange City scoring a one-run win.
The City side made 4-138, with Fletcher Rose the best with the ball with 3-18 from his four overs.
In response, Kinross found the going tough at 2-35 before Cameron Rasmussen (38 not out) and Hugh Elbourne (21) put on 47 for the third wicket.
Rose (22no) came in with his side at 5-91 and joined with Rasmussen but they finished on 5-137, two runs shy of victory.
In other T20 games, Mick Sullivan’s 57 helped Gladstone to a seven-wicket win over Waratahs, and CYMS scored a 15-run victory over Centrals.
Not even a Michael Parfett half-century could help Kinross Young Guns to a Centenary Cup victory over Waratahs on Saturday.
Parfett scored a well-constructed 81 and put on 98 for the second wicket with Lachlan Hunt (27).
Harry Pierce took 4-7 from his four overs to help restrict Kinross to 150.
Waratahs then scored the winning runs with four wickets in hand.
In other Centenary Cup matches, CYMS Fahys scored a two-wicket win over Kinross 3rds, with Harry Manuel taking 4-34 for the victors, and an unbeaten 70 from Ryan Manning and 4-14 from Kobe Mansell - including three wickets in one over - pushed Cavaliers to a six wicket win over Orange City despite an unbeaten 55 from the Warriors’ Ben Hazzard.
Brad Cleal (4-17) helped Gladstone to a third grade win over Waratahs on Saturday.
Waratahs were all out for just 69 and Gladstone reached the winning total with six wickets in hand.
Orange City scored a 22-run win over CYMS.
CYMS are on track to claim first innings points in their second grade two-day match against Centrals.
Playing at Jack Brabham 2, Centrals batted first and opener Peter Vanstone gave them a good start with his 42.
However his teammates struggled and Centrals were bowled out for 122, with Sam Cooper (3-25) and Scott Fitzpatrick (3-36) grabbing three wickets each.
In response, Michael Hannelly scored 52 for CYMS, and Cooper (29no) and Jeremy Finlayson (3no) helped them to 3-111 at stumps.
