Around 1000 entries are expected on the day, ranging from single blossoms to floral arrangements of daffodils, hyacinths, camellias and other spring flowers and bulbs.
The annual flower show, organised by Orange and District Horticultural Society, attracts entries from as far away as Canberra, but publicity officer Zena Clout said newcomers should not be daunted.
“If you haven’t shown anything before, it’s a great place to start. If anyone is interested we could certainly help them out on Saturday morning. You can enter whatever you’ve got in your garden at the moment, even if you have flowering trees or shrubs,” Mrs Clout said.
Entries can be brought to the hall tomorrow morning before the show begins at 1pm, and there are sections for juniors and novices, as well as open sections.
Mrs Clout said Orange’s climate made it an ideal region to grow flowering plants like daffodils.
“In our climate, after months of no colour, in spring everything just bursts through. The colours are beautiful,” she said.
Admission to the show is $3 for adults, and children are admitted free. Afternoon tea is also available for $5. For more information on entering exhibits, contact show secretary Yvonne Tracey on 6362 3249.
