CYMS Gladiators wary of 'dangerous' school rivals in High A

“THEY’RE at their most dangerous when they have a point to prove.”

CYMS Gladiators’ coach Kylie Jordan knows her side has a target on its back ahead of Saturday’s Orange Netball Association Toyota Cup clash with High A.

A big chunk of CYMS’ side were a part of the James Sheahan Catholic High School side which beat the Orange High side multiple times during the Marianne Murphy Shield during the week, and Jordan said her players know High A will be out for revenge.

“I’m sure they will want to reverse the result,” Jordan said.

“They have a point to prove now, but the girls who played for James Sheahan and also play for CYMS took a lot of confidence from the wins during the week.

“From memory it’s been a long time since a team made up primarily of James Sheahan students beat High A on in the Orange competition.

“Granted our CYMS team isn’t exactly the same as the James Sheahan one which won, but we’re definitely still looking for a win.”

The green and golds sit fifth on the Toyota Cup ladder with High A perched two spots, and five points, above them in third.

CYMS are just one win behind fourth placed Royal Hawks, and Jordan said her side’s goal for the remainder of the season is to try and sneak into the top four, adding a win today would provide a good foundation to do so.

Crucially, all three sides have a tough run home after Saturday’s round.

CYMS go up against Robin Hood, Royal Hawks, Kinross 1sts and Hawks Ace Drilling.

Royal Hawks square off against Hawks Ace Drilling, CYMS, Life Studio and High A.

High A must take on Life Studio, LS DVM Embroidery, Robin Hood and Royal Hawks.

The battle for the semi-final spots will go down to the wire.

CYMS take on High A from 2.30pm on Saturday.

In Saturday’s other Toyota Cup games Royal Hawks take on KWS 1sts, LS DVM Embroidery clash with club mates Life Studio and Robin Hood Orange Glass will look to retain top spot with a win over Hawks Ace Drilling.
