Three of Orange’s teams finished in the top 10 of their divisions at the end of the three-day championships in Berkeley.
The 14s finished fourth in their age group’s second division tournament, the 13s were seventh in division two, and the 12s were 10th in the second division.
The 15s had a challenging three days in the championship division but took plenty from the event and finished 21st.
Tegan Dray, the 14s coach, was elated with her team’s top five finish.
“I’m very, very happy with that. The girls are going to be very happy,” Dray said.
“The teamwork they showed, the tenacity and the ability to support each other right through the weekend was amazing.”
The 14s were fifth on the competition ladder after Saturday, with three wins, two draws and a loss.
They slipped to sixth after Sunday with four wins and a draw from seven games.
Dray’s girls had a big finish yesterday, winning five of their six games to climb to fourth on the ladder.
“We talked about putting together a perfect game and they did that in the last game today (against Camden and District). They played 24 minutes of great netball,” Dray said.
“There were flashes of brilliance that were amazing right through the weekend.”
The 12s, coached by Katrina Hausia, were enjoying their first State Age Championships.
The young side performed well winning six of their 16 games to finish 10th.
The 13s, coached by Michael Rudd, were sixth after Saturday’s and Sunday’s games, and then finished seventh with nine wins and a draw from their 16 matches.
Orange’s 15s side, coached by Sally Wilson, performed well and recorded wins over Penrith District (14-12), Hills (15-13) and City of Sydney (24-17).
Dray said Orange’s good results meant the association’s senior ranks would continue to be strong in the future.
“It shows the strength of our association and the juniors coming through,” Dray said.
“It’s really pleasing to get three teams in the top 10.”
