The council has increased its roads budget by 28 per cent to $12 million.
Among the projects will be $380,000 for heavy patching on Icely Road and about $57,300 to reseal Ophir Road.
Orange-Cabonne Road Safety Committee member Gavin Hillier recently raised concerns about dirt washout from driveways on those roads and White Rock Road, saying they were dangerous for motorcycles.
He welcomed the proposed budget items, especially Icely Road.
“It’s a great result if that’s the result and Icely does need work,” he said.
“But I would put White Rock Road as a higher priority than Icely.
Lake Canobolas Road will receive $735,000 in black spot funding, Spring Terrace Road will receive $220,000 for heavy patching, and Davys Plains Road near Cudal will receive $1.5 million, including $400,000 for the Marylebone Bridge.
Among the budget’s other items will be almost $1.4 million to continue the Yeoval and Cumnock sewer schemes, $1 million for the Eugowra flood plain levee bank and $165,000 for the Manildra residential development.
Cabonne mayor Ian Gosper said the Eugowra flood levee relied on state government approval and grants.
“We have included the project in the budget because we want to be shovel-ready when government funding becomes available,” he said.
Cabonne residents will experience a 2.3 per cent rate increase, in line with the rise set by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
Submissions on the draft 2014-15 operational plan close today. Documents can be viewed at the council’s offices in Molong, Canowindra and Cudal, libraries in Manildra, Canowindra and Molong, and by visiting cabonne.nsw.gov.au.
