Sixth-placed Ex-Services play Bathurst Souths, sitting fourth, in today’s women’s Premier League Hockey clash at Orange Hockey Centre, and Kennewell knows the Bathurst side will look to outpace his troops.
“I’m expecting a lot of running, and a very quick game,” Kennewell said.
“Souths are a team that love to move the ball quickly.
“We need to make sure we control the tempo and not give them a chance to speed things up too much.”
The Bathurst side has proved an enigma so far in 2014 - a powerhouse team on paper, plagued by inconsistency - and Kennewell said Souths presents Ex-Services with an interesting situation as a result.
“Even though they have been inconsistent, we need to be switched on,” Kennewell said.
“We’ve been turning the ball over easily and not respecting our own possession.
“We’re full-strength [today], so if we can retain our own ball and stick to our game plan hopefully we can jag a win.”
Ex-Services clash with Souths from 2.35pm.
